ISHIDA TAKES 5TH ON FINAL DAY OF JR WORLD C’SHIPS



ANKARA (August 9) - Tomotsugu Ishida of Waseda University racked up three wins against a pair of losses at 66kg and finished in fifth place on the final day of the junior wrestling world championships. Ishida’s fifth place was the highest finish for the Japanese men over the six day and was the first time since 2007 that the men’s freestyle team was denied a medal at the junior world meet.

Japan’s three other entries on the final day lost their opening matches and did not have a chance to wrestle in the repechage matches. Japan finished 13th overall with 10 points.
